Exploring Life Through The Lens

Mixed Berry Milk Smoothie

Summer’s here.. No, not really. It’s the dead of winter here in Taiwan. On the bright side, we don’t have sub zero temperatures. It’s sunny out and the average high temperature is 26 degrees Celsius (78 F). YEAH! 26 degrees and they still call it winter. Pfft… So, naturally, this to me is equivalent to summer.

I recently bought.. let’s just say, ahem.. more than I could handle blueberries and raspberries. It’s not a lot that I could make jam yet too much to just eat them as a snack. So, for using so much brain power up to this point, I shall reward myself with a lovely, delicioso, mixed berry smoothie. Summer = perfect time for smoothie. In this case, a self-claimed summer.

Lesson learned: Always buy more food than I can handle so that awesome concoctions like this continue to exist.

Quick Recipe        Serves 1

what you need:

1 cup fresh berries (I used blueberries and raspberries)
1/2 cup organic whole milk (or any of your favorite milk)
1/2 – 1 tbs sugar (or other sweetener)

directions:

  1. Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend on high for 30 seconds or until berries are blended thoroughly.
  2. For a thicker smoothie, add yogurt, ice or extra frozen berries. For a thinner smoothie, add more milk or water.

What is your perfect summer or winter smoothie?
