Exploring Life Through The Lens

Super Easy Strawberry Syrup

Nobody likes to be told what to do. Not kids. Not teenagers. Not adults. I can give you 100 reasons why you should do something and you wouldn’t even budge.

Put on some pants. No.

Give me the remote. No.

Come to my dance recital. No. I’ll pay you? Ok.

Take out the trash. No.

Go to bed. No.

Eat your greens. No. I’ll give you candy? Ok.

As with everything in life, all we need is one GOOD reason why we should do something.

Make this strawberry syrup. No.

It can be made into an AWESOME drink like strawberry milk because it’s so sweet and strawberrish and it’s a perfect topping for pancakes, waffles, crepes, or ice cream. No.

Noooo???

How could you say no to this?

Delicious, sinful strawberry syrup made from fresh berries. Great for strawberry milk or toppings on pancakes or french toasts.

It’s just like candy really. Only liquid.

Quick Recipe           Makes 1 cup syrup

what you need:

4 cups fresh or frozen whole strawberries, hulled (about 1 pound)
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup water

directions:

1. Put all ingredients in a saucepan over medium high heat.

2. When mixture starts to boil reduce heat to medium. Skim the froth and let simmer for 10 minutes. Stir often so it doesn’t burn.

3. Strain the mixture. Keep the leftover stained strawberries for making jam or as toppings for pancakes or crepes.

Strawberry-Syrup

Notes:

1. The syrup is ready when the strawberries have infused its color and flavor into the liquid. The liquid would also have reduced and thickened slightly.

2. This strawberry syrup recipe is thick and sweet because I use it primarily for strawberry milk. It’s great to flavor other drinks as well.

3. If you have an extremely sweet tooth, this syrup is perfect for pancakes, waffles, crepes, or ice cream. However, not everyone’s as crazy as Mr. V is. So, do as your heart please or rather your heart requires (artery blocking inducing liquid if you know what I mean). Thin it out by doubling the amount of water and it’s still super delicious.
